This is the direct OEM replacement for the AL Bosch Gen6 headlight control module. It is a newly updated, universal design that consolidates multiple older ballasts into one unit. It is fully compatible with both D1S/D1R and D3S/D3R factory HID xenon systems.
It is fitted to a massive range of premium vehicles from 2009 to 2019, including the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, CLA, GLA, ML, GL, SL, and SLK, as well as the BMW 3 Series, 4 Series, 6 Series, X3, X5, and MINI Cooper.
AL Bosch manufactured this ballast and assigned it internal part numbers ending in 312, 263, 272, and 315. The universal replacement unit (130732931201) replaces all of these. Vehicle manufacturers then assigned their own OEM part numbers, such as Mercedes' A2229003300 and A1669002800, and BMW's 63117318327. They are all completely interchangeable, and our replacement matches the original OEM specification exactly.
Headlight flickering, a headlight that won't ignite, or one side that cuts out after a few minutes are the most common signs of a failed ballast. If swapping the globe to the opposite side makes no difference, the ballast is the fault.
1 x Ballast unit only. For D1S and D3S globes, the igniter is built into the globe base — no separate igniter is required. Order 2 if both headlights are affected.

Is It the Ballast or the Globe?
Before replacing the ballast, swap the working globe from the opposite headlight into the non-working side.
If the light still fails with a known-good globe, the ballast is the fault.
If the headlight works briefly then cuts out, or flickers on startup, this is typically a ballast fault rather than a globe fault.
